Large monitors with a size of up to 49 inches can reduce desktop clutter and improve the efficiency of knowledge workers and creative users.
In many offices, it is common to see employees sitting side by side on their desks with two monitors. This is useful for keeping financial information updated. For example, financial information is often displayed on one screen in real time, while the second display is used to perform more routine tasks, such as email and word processing. Creative users usually like to view full-size video and graphic files on dedicated displays, while their editing applications and other tools are available nearby. Some people only need two monitors for two computers at the same time, perhaps using a laptop and a desktop PC side by side.
But when you can only have one monitor, why put two monitors on the table? The latest trend in business monitors is "multitasking" monitors-large displays can provide enough space to accommodate multiple applications or multiple windows on the screen at the same time. These multi-function displays may also include other features, such as the ability to create a picture-in-picture (PiP) effect, where you can focus on the main application displayed in a larger window, while maintaining it in a smaller auxiliary window Pay attention to information such as stock prices or emails. Some modern monitors also provide a split screen effect (also known as picture-by-picture (PbP)), allowing two computers to share a screen.
Functions such as this work best on larger displays, and the new generation of multitasking monitors usually start at 32 inches and go to 49 inches. Even so, these large monitors still take up much less space than a pair of 27-inch screens sitting on a desk (especially if you are working temporarily at home, there have been many such monitors last year) ).
This is a guide to some of the best multitasking monitors for advanced knowledge workers and creative users.

A series of ultra-wide curved displays are partly aimed at gamers and video enthusiasts, but also include features such as picture-in-picture (PiP) and picture-in-picture (PbP), which allow knowledge workers and advanced users to combine two computers And view the images in both at the same time. The ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio is also very suitable for viewing multiple documents and windows.

For video connections, there are two HDMI inputs and DisplayPort inputs and outputs, and two USB 3.0 ports for peripherals. However, it is worth noting that XR382CQK is not a true 4K display, because its unconventional 21:9 aspect ratio has a resolution of 3840 x 1600 (110.9ppi) instead of the standard 16:9 3840 x 2160. In Acer's support forum, it is recommended that Macs dislike the aspect ratio for some reason.

It is good value for business users who want a large, multi-function display (especially if you work from home and have to pay for it yourself). This 31.5-inch monitor offers 4K resolution (3840 x 2160, 139.9ppi), which is well under $500, and has useful features for multitasking with multiple applications or two connected computers.
The monitor provides HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces, as well as DVI and VGA for older PCs and laptops. There is also a built-in USB hub with two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, although unfortunately there is no USB-C support.
You can connect two computers and use Picture-in-Picture (PiP) or Picture-in-Picture (PbP) to display images from both computers at the same time. You can move the second "subsource" image on the screen, change its size, and even switch the audio of the monitor's built-in speakers between different computers. You can also rotate the screen to an upright (portrait) position.

BenQ is known for its affordable displays and projectors, but it has also entered the creative market with its price advantage.

Although not the cheapest 4K monitor, the 31.5-inch screen provides enough space for graphics and video editing, and supports 100% sRGB color space and 95% sRGB color space.
Standards used in the film industry.
There are two HDMI ports, one DisplayPort and two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a USB hub that provides three USB 3.1 ports. BenQ also provides a "circle"-a small dial inserted into the display, allowing you to control the menu system and other functions on the screen.
If you want to perform multitasking, you can connect two computers to the monitor and use the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-in-Picture (PbP) functions to share the screen. You can also rotate the screen 90 degrees to switch to portrait mode. The PD3220U even includes a built-in KVM switch, allowing you to share keyboard, video, and mouse between two connected computers. Screens larger than 27 inches used to be a luxury-for financial executives, for example, it was a status symbol. However, extensive remote work has changed all of this, and increased demand for larger displays has also helped lower prices. Dell's new product
It is one of the most affordable 31.5-inch monitors we have seen so far.
The price of S3221QS is only US$424.99, and it can provide a complete 4K resolution (3840 x 2160, 139.9dpi). It also supports 99% sRGB color standard and 90% DCI-P3, so it can certainly handle graphics, videos and presentations if needed.
With two HDMI ports and one DisplayPort, S3221QS provides a split screen mode, allowing you to use the screen on two computers at the same time. There is also a picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, which uses most of the host’s screen, while the image from the second device is displayed in a small window in a corner. Stereo speakers provide audio output, and the keyboard, mouse or other accessories have two USB 3.0 ports.

Newly launched on
In January, the newest member of Dell's UltraSharp family of products is an impressive all-round product that will be suitable for a variety of applications.
Not the largest display in the series, but its 37.5 inch screen can provide close to 4K resolution (3840 x 1600, 110.9ppi) and 21:9 widescreen aspect ratio, which is very suitable for processing multiple applications and windows on the screen at once. It supports 100% sRGB color standard, so it will be suitable for various graphics and design applications. It also supports 95% of the DCI-P3 standard for video editing. Although it lacks the true 4K resolution required by broadcast professionals, the UltraSharp 38 U3821DW is still sufficient for editing presentations and streaming content videos.
It also connects well, with two HDMI ports DisplayPort and USB-C, and a four-port USB hub with a KVM switch, allowing you to connect two computers and share a keyboard and mouse. There is even an RJ-45 Ethernet port to connect your PC or laptop to a wired network.

HP's F-series monitors have always focused on value for money and fashion
Managed to provide an attractive 34-inch curved display for less than $500.
Low cost does bring some compromises: 34f is closer to 3K resolution than true 4K, but its 3,440 x 1,440 pixels (109.7dpi) and widescreen 21:9 aspect ratio still provide enough space to run multiple applications in parallel Procedure-side. It also provides a "low blue light" mode and anti-glare coating to reduce eye fatigue. There are two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort, allowing you to connect multiple devices, and a pair of USB 3.0 ports for connecting a keyboard, mouse or other peripherals. Unfortunately, there is no audio support, so you have to rely on the built-in speakers of your PC or provide a set of external speakers yourself.
This model also does not include USB-C, although it is expected that new models with similar prices will soon add USB-C and some additional USB 3.0 ports.

HP introduced several new displays at CES in January, with a focus on "ultra-wide" displays, which provide plenty of room for multitasking through multiple applications and even multiple devices.
It also has an attractive price, offering a 43.4-inch curved display for less than $1,000. It is not completely 4K, but its 3840 x 1200 resolution (92.7ppi) provides a widescreen 32:10 aspect ratio, which can accommodate multiple browser windows, emails, and some very large spreadsheets. If you need to do some photo editing or presentation work, it also supports 99% sRGB color standard.
There are HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C inputs for connecting computers and other devices. The USB-C port can charge the laptop, but the S430c also provides a four-port USB hub and another USB-C port for charging other devices. The monitor provides a split screen mode, so you can connect and view two devices at the same time-and even includes a feature called HP Device Bridge (see HP’s
(For more information), allows you to drag and drop files between two Windows, Mac, Android or Ubuntu devices. Coupled with the pop-up 1080p infrared webcam, you will get multitasking capabilities.

We like it very much
We reviewed it in 2019, but this model is quite expensive for a 32-inch display (and it seems not currently available in the US). Newer
Provides a cheaper alternative to office work at a very competitive price of US$538.
The 346B1C can be upgraded to a larger 34-inch display, although the low price means it cannot provide true 4K resolution. Even so, 3440 x 1440 resolution (109.7dpi) and widescreen 21:9 aspect ratio still provide enough space for running multiple applications in parallel. It also has a 100Hz refresh rate, anti-glare coating and low blue light mode, which can reduce eye fatigue during work. The monitor supports 119% of the sRGB color standard and 90% of Adobe RGB, so it is very suitable for graphic work and photo editing.
The 346B1C's USB-C, HDMI and DisplayPort for video input, as well as a three-port USB hub and KVM switch, can also be well connected, allowing you to connect two computers and share a keyboard and mouse.

Philips makes many curved displays designed for games and videos, but its top products
Mainly aimed at the B2B sector-especially financial institutions such as banks and trading floors, where multi-display settings are very common.
The curved design is designed to occupy your entire field of vision, providing "best visual comfort" by eliminating interference, allowing you to immerse yourself in the world of data. The 48.8-inch display offers a resolution of 5120 x 1,440 (109ppi) and has the same ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio as a similar 49-inch display (unfortunately, this can be troublesome for Mac users). However, just like Philips' moderately sized "dock monitor" series, the 499P9H is equipped with useful connectivity features, including two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort, as well as a USB-C port that can handle data, video, and laptop charging.
There is also a built-in KVM switch that allows you to control two computers with a mouse and keyboard, and the "multi-view" function provides a split screen option to view two computers on the screen at the same time. Philips 499P9H even has a webcam for video conferencing and Gigabit Ethernet for connecting to wired networks.

Samsung's latest M7 series display
, Very suitable for multitasking, very suitable for home work and entertainment. Described as "full-screen display" M7 provides a 32-inch display with a resolution of 4K (3840 x 2160, 137.7dpi), which is very suitable for running various office and productivity software. Samsung did not mention the level of support for Adobe RGB or sRGB color standards, so the 32M70A is not the best choice for professional-level graphics or video works, but when this multifunctional display is only $349.99, it is hard to complain.
The 32M70A also performs well in other areas, with impressive connectivity features, including two HDMI ports and a USB-C port. Built-in wi-fi (802.11ac, Wi-Fi 5) allows M7 to act as a remote terminal for editing MS Office documents stored in the cloud, and it also supports Bluetooth 4.2. When you finish your work, the 32M70A includes Samsung's Smart Hub, which can effectively turn it into a smart TV to stream Netflix, HBO and other video services. By supporting Apple's AirPlay, the multi-faceted display can also stream audio and video from Apple devices.

The new and more powerful ATEM Mini model includes 8 inputs, 6 DVEs, 4 chroma keyers, 16 multi-views, 2 downstream keyers, 2 media players and more!
ATEM Mini Extreme (Photo: Business Wire)
) -Blackmagic Design today announced the launch of ATEM Mini Extreme, which is a new large model of our ATEM Mini live production switcher. This new model is our most advanced 1 M/E switcher, with 8 inputs, 4 ATEM advanced chroma keyers, a total of 6 independent DVEs, 2 media players, 2 downstream keyers, 16 multi-views, 2 USB connections and multiple HDMI auxiliary outputs. There is also a new ATEM Mini Extreme ISO model, which includes all these powerful features and a more powerful recording engine that can record all 8 inputs, and the program can record a total of 9 recording streams. Both new models include a broadcast-quality streaming engine for real-time streaming to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Blackmagic Design global distributors can purchase ATEM Mini Extreme and ATEM Mini Extreme ISO immediately for US$995.
With the help of the ATEM Mini switcher, you can easily create professional multi-camera products for real-time streaming to YouTube using Skype or Zoom and innovative business presentations. By simply connecting ATEM Mini, customers can switch up to 8 real-time video inputs to obtain images with significantly improved quality. Or connect to a computer used for PowerPoint slides or game consoles. The built-in DVE provides exciting picture-in-picture effects, which is very suitable for narration.
There are also plenty of video effects. All ATEM Mini models have USB, which acts like a webcam, so customers can use any streaming software, while ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Extreme models can add real-time streaming and recording functions to the USB disk. There is also an HDMI output for the projector. The microphone input allows high-quality desktop and lapel microphones for interviews and presentations.
The compact all-in-one design of ATEM Mini includes both the control panel and the connector. The front panel includes easy-to-use buttons for selecting signal sources, video effects and transitions. The source button is large, so you can use it by feeling to allow the presenter to switch. Customers can even get buttons for audio mixing. On the ATEM Mini Pro and Extreme models, customers can also get buttons for recording and streaming media control, as well as output selection buttons that allow customers to change the video output between cameras, programs, and multi-views. On the back panel there is an HDMI connection for a camera or computer, additional microphone input, USB for webcam output, and HDMI "auxiliary" output for program video.
The ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Extreme models have a built-in hardware streaming engine that can be used for real-time streaming via their Ethernet connection. This means that customers can broadcast live to YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch with higher quality without losing frames and simpler settings. Just select the streaming service and enter the streaming key. There is a palette for flow settings in the ATEM software control, and the flow status is also displayed in the multi-view. The streaming status is easy to understand because the data rate indicator shows the Internet speed required by the video format that the user is using. If the user is considered from a technical point of view, the customer can update the stream configuration file in the XML settings file to load the new service.
If users make live productions on site, ATEM Mini Pro and Extreme models support connecting Apple or Android phones to USB ports to use mobile data. This is also a good backup for the main Ethernet connection. The phone sharing function can be used with the latest high-speed 5G phones and the more common 4G phones. The ATEM switcher will automatically detect when the phone is connected and switch its internet connection to use it without changing the settings. Once connected, the phone will be powered through the USB port, so it can still be charged through the switcher. Through the use of phone sharing and mobile data, ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Extreme become the perfect mobile production solution.
ATEM Mini Pro and Extreme models also support recording their streaming data directly to a USB flash drive. This means that customers can get very long recordings in the same H.264 video file of the streamed AAC audio, so customers can directly upload it to any online video website, such as YouTube or Vimeo. You can also record to multiple disks through a USB hub or Blackmagic MultiDock, so when the disk is full, you can continue to the second disk for uninterrupted recording. Record setting and disk selection are set in the ATEM software control, and there is a record status view in the built-in multi-view.
The ATEM Mini Pro ISO and Extreme ISO models allow customers to edit live events because they can record multiple video streams at the same time, including a pure feed of all inputs and programs. The used media pool image is also saved with the video file. Video files contain metadata tags, such as synchronized timecode and camera number. Imagine re-editing their programs with new color levels, effects and graphics. Even all audio sources are recorded, so customers can mix their audio professionally.
The ISO model also saves DaVinci Resolve project files, so customers can open their real-time production as video editing with just one click. All cut, dissolve and media library graphics will be loaded. This means that customers can fine-tune editing points and even completely replace shots. DaVinci Resolve Sync Bin allows customers to select new lenses through multiple views, so it is very easy to use. Customers can even relink to Blackmagic RAW camera files to add professional color correction and retouching to Ultra HD.
Through two independent 3.5mm stereo audio inputs, customers can connect desktop and lapel microphones. With 2 additional stereo audio inputs, customers can ensure that both the host and guest have a lapel microphone during the interview. In addition, all models are equipped with a Fairlight audio mixer with all HDMI inputs, and both microphone inputs are connected to the audio mixer, so customers can mix live from all audio sources. ATEM Mini Extreme also adds headphone output.
Each HDMI input has its own dedicated standard converter. This means that ATEM Mini will automatically convert 1080p, 1080i and 720p signal sources to switcher video standards. HDMI output is a true "auxiliary" output, so customers can cleanly switch each HDMI input to output. In addition, the ATEM Mini Extreme model supports 2 low-latency direct loops. On the more powerful ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Extreme models, HDMI output can be selected to display a full multi-view.
The ATEM Software Control application releases the hidden functions of the ATEM Mini and allows access to all functions in the switcher. ATEM Software Control has a visual switcher user interface with a parameter palette for quick adjustments. Although the customer can usually connect via USB, if the customer uses an Ethernet connection, multiple users can be connected to the ATEM Mini using separate copies of the ATEM software control on different computers. Customers can even save the switcher status as an XML file. If the customer needs to edit the playback, the customer can even control the HyperDeck disk recorder via Ethernet.
The built-in "media library" can load up to 20 individual broadcast quality RGBA graphics for titles, openings and logos. Customers can even use still frames for complex effects, such as graphic wipes. You can load graphics through the ATEM software control, or you can use the ATEM Photoshop plug-in to download graphics directly from Photoshop.
The ATEM Mini Extreme model includes 4 upstream chroma keyers, which allows customers to build exciting virtual sets. With 4 independent chroma keyers, customers can get a keyer for each camera, so customers can build a virtual device for up to 4 cameras. With ATEM Mini Extreme, customers have 8 inputs, 4 of which are used for cameras, and the other 4 can be connected to a virtual computer to render the background. Or customers do not need to move their cameras, customers can make a fixed camera virtual set by loading pre-rendered still image backgrounds from media players and media pools. Customers can set up macros to change the camera and load the correct background into the media player. Even use DeckLink Quad HDMI and real-time virtual setting software.
In addition to the 2 independent DVEs in the ATEM Mini Extreme model, there is also a powerful SuperSource multi-layer processor with 4 additional DVE layers and a background layer, all of which appear as additional input sources for ATEM Mini Extreme. Any ATEM Mini Extreme video input can be used for each SuperSource DVE, and then layer them all together on the custom background of the media pool. SuperSource is very suitable for multi-picture-in-picture display with interviewees, because customers can set the effect before the broadcast effect, while still leaving the two main DVEs for other tasks. SuperSource is like a built-in multi-layer VFX switcher.
When multiple cameras are used for large-scale live performances, it is very useful to watch all their video sources on the same monitor at the same time. The ATEM Mini Pro and ATEM Mini Extreme models have professional multi-view functions, allowing customers to watch all video inputs, previews and programs on one HDMI TV or monitor. Each camera view includes prompt indicators so that customers know when each source is on the air, and each view also has a custom label and audio meter. In addition, the ATEM Mini Extreme model allows customers to choose up to 16 custom views. Multiview even includes recording, streaming and audio mixer status.
ATEM Streaming Bridge is a video converter that enables customers to receive H.264 streams from any ATEM Mini Pro or ATEM Mini Extreme and convert them back to SDI and HDMI video. This means that customers can send video to a remote location around their local Ethernet or via the global Internet. This is possible because it uses the advanced H.264 codec to achieve higher quality at a very low data rate. Setup is very easy, because the ATEM software utility can create a setup file, which the customer can send to the remote studio via email.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, said: "These two new models of ATEM Mini have greatly increased creative features and are now our most powerful 1 M/E switcher!"
As our ATEM Mini customers really push the advantages of live production, we feel that they are innovating in new and exciting ways and inventing new workflows that we have never seen before. Therefore, we believe that it is very important to build a new ATEM Mini model that will have all the functions far beyond what is now available, so our customers can continue to use these new workflows to innovate. These new models are large, powerful, and the price is still unbelievable.

Asus ZenBook Flip S combines a 360° form factor with an Intel i7 chip. Using a wealth of video editing software, BRYAN TURNER tested the laptop.
Many graphic artists will say that their next large-scale hardware purchase will require a pressure-sensitive stylus function with a high-quality screen. ASUS has managed to integrate these features into its new ASUS ZenBook Flip S (UX371), along with all the powerful features that one can get from a graphics suite compatible with Windows.
When unpacking the laptop, it was clear that ASUS focused on the lightest possible device to cater to the needs of graphic artists. The device weighs 1.2 kilograms and is one of the lightest Intel i7 laptops we have ever encountered.
Other accessories in the box include protective sleeve, pressure sensitive pen, USB-A to Gigabit LAN adapter and USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter. As all adapters imply, the ports on the laptop are limited to essentials. In other words, ordinary users who use wired headsets only need to leave the small USB-C adapter at the end of the headset. The lack of a built-in Ethernet port is not a major loss, especially because it supports Wi-Fi 6.
There is a full-size HDMI port and two Thunderbolt 4 ready USB-C ports on the left, both ports can be used for charging, and the charging indicator (a feature that Mac users will appreciate) is on the left. On the right is a single USB-A 3.1 Gen 2 (for older accessories) and the power button.
When you open the laptop, you can see a 13.3-inch 4K OLED screen, which can be folded back to tablet mode, which can easily become a selling point for laptops. The combination of OLED, 4K resolution and HDR makes it easily one of the best laptop screens for creative ideas. It has also been verified by Pantone-covering 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Combining this function with the included stylus that can support 4096 levels of pressure, graphic artists and note takers can get an experience close to paper on the screen. The input delay of the stylus is comparable to that of the third-generation iPad Pro, making the UX371 a better choice for users who want more accurate colors.
The Windows Hello IR camera is a good addition, it allows users to log in with their face. We tried to use the printout and another screen showing the registered face, and the computer could not be unlocked. This is similar to the point projection technology in the new iPhone, so it is also very safe. It can be used across profiles, so if there are multiple users, the user who is viewing the screen will log in to the corresponding account.
The performance is as solid as a rock. We edited and exported a 1080p video for the Google Gadget Original YouTube channel,
, And it only took a long time to complete. Considering this is the export time for desktops using Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, this is an impressive result of the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics.
What played a huge role in the editing process is the 1TB PCIe 3.0×4 SSD for fast storage and 16GB RAM to keep the program running smoothly. When performing heavy tasks, the computer can be used for about 7 hours, which far exceeds our expectations for Ultrabooks. When performing lighter tasks such as word processing and video streaming, it only lasted more than 14 hours. To charge the PC, it uses a 65W USB Type-C power supply. We tried to recharge it with a Samsung 25W charger, and it worked-but only in a pinch, because the charging time is much longer compared to the included charger.
ASUS stated that it has conducted a MIL-STD-810G test on this computer, which means it has been working in extremely high temperature and cold, high altitude and humid environments. It also has a splash-proof keyboard design, helping to reassure users. We haven't tested any of these claims, but just through the design that feels sturdy, we can know that this laptop may have some malfunctions and still work normally.
Overall, graphic artists will appreciate the powerful functions and versatility brought by UX371. The price of the laptop is R31,000, from
