The Nintendo Switch may be one of the most popular video game consoles, but it looks a bit outdated. In addition to the release of the 2019 Lite version, the internal and external aspects of the original Switch have remained unchanged for nearly four years. But the new vulnerability shows that the long-rumored Switch Pro is finally available. Spoiler alert: It is not called Switch Pro.
According to the leaker, the new console will mark a major improvement over the original Switch. Not only does it have a larger, brighter screen, but it also has internally enhanced features-perhaps most importantly, there are rumors that it will be available this year. Look at our best
If you want to start the game now.
, The new Switch Pro will be equipped with a 7-inch display (instead of the current model's 6.2-inch). More importantly, it will replace LCD technology in favor of OLED screens-making it brighter and clearer.
The Bloomberg report also confirmed recent rumors that the new Switch will support 4K output when connected to the TV. Although the Switch currently supports 1080p output when docking (or 720p in handheld mode), 4K video will become a new area for Nintendo. In a clear 4K environment, exploring the breath of the wild Hyrule or zooming in around Bowser Castle in Mario Kart will be a more immersive experience than ever.
Last week, the highly acclaimed Nintendo leaker Nate Drake arrived
It is claimed that the new Nintendo Switch will be "like a PS4 with DLSS and a more powerful CPU." Although we can hardly expect this small Switch to compete with Sony’s huge PlayStation 5 (here is
), a 4K handheld device as powerful as the PS4 sounds incredible.
However, perhaps the most interesting revelation is that Nintendo Switch Pro may not be called Nintendo Switch Pro at all-the new device is rumored to be called Super Nintendo Switch. Of course, this is a delightful tribute to the 1990s Super Nintendo Entertainment System (which is one of the most popular retro game consoles of all time).
As for the appearance of the Super Nintendo Switch, we must wait and see. But if this is the case
, Fans will undoubtedly be happy. In order to show a larger display, the design above uses a huge 4K screen and an ergonomic Joy Cons.
Although the so-called “Super Nintendo Switch” sounds impressive, it won’t be in place anytime soon – as Microsoft and Sony launch their own, popular next-generation game consoles in 2020, Nintendo will need to go all out To maintain a leading position. game. Having said that, the current Switch shows no signs of slowing down (from a popularization point of view). The original specifications are not all
Rumors about the long-term desire to upgrade the Nintendo Switch have been circulating for some time. This week,
Reported that this legendary new Switch
According to the report, the upgraded Switch obviously has a 7-inch 720p OLED screen that can output 4K graphics when connected to a TV. The OLED screen will be a major upgrade to the LCD of the Switch and Switch Lite, and may provide deeper colors and deeper blacks. 4K output will also be a huge leap. Now the current switch
When connected to a TV.
But many of us are
Still quite like our existing Switch, even the Switch in release mode that we first launched this week four years ago. The changes we are keen on are not necessarily OLED screens or other features. (Actually, it might be annoying if the extra features lead to exclusive games on Switch Pro
And the new Nintendo 3DS. ) Although people always hope for longer battery life, we mainly hope that it will not fall below the minimum standard of Nintendo
This is our list.
The Joy-Con controller of Switch has an innovative design and provides more ways to play the console
A convenient way to install two controllers in each box and have a very unreliable thumbstick, many users report
As time goes by. Nintendo
Regarding what seems to be a widespread problem, but the company
For users with problems. Nintendo has also not used the release of Switch Lite and the second version of the current Switch to solve the drift problem, so they are still in progress-this may be another opportunity for Nintendo to make the right choice.
Other changes may just make Joy-Cons a better controller. Place the real D-pad on the Joy-Con on the left, similar to the one on the D-pad
, The current four-button design of the left Joy-Con may make playing platform games and fighting games much easier than mixing and matching the left Joy-Con. A slightly larger shoulder trigger makes the Switch easier to hold in your hand. And I really want more colors-maybe Nintendo can provide
How do I decorate my Switch and its Joy-Con when I buy it?
Using Bluetooth headsets on the Switch is very difficult: you have to buy a third-party Bluetooth adapter and plug it into the headphone jack, the USB-C port of the console or the Switch's docking station. (although
, The Switch has never provided Bluetooth audio support. )
The demand for Bluetooth audio is so strong that the entire home application of third-party adapters has sprung up-just search for "Nintendo Switch Bluetooth Adapter"
To see some of the many available products. However, even if you purchase these adapters, most of them stick out awkwardly from the console's USB-C port, requiring you to remove them to charge, and some feel that they might break if you don't pay attention.
The Switch with native Bluetooth headset support is particularly suitable for playing in bed, without the need for additional dongle or wired earplugs.
We really like it
On Xbox Series X/S, it allows you to switch between games without having to start the game from the beginning and then go back to where you left off. We think the Switch will indeed benefit from similar features, especially because it has so many games that you can jump in for a few minutes at a time. Imagine jumping around from your friend’s house
, Instead of having to wait for the game to cold start every time-sounds good, right?
The editor also hopes that I don’t have to find a save point every time my partner organizes their JRPG.
First of all, it is a good idea to use the current Switch bracket, but in fact, it is not as useful as we hoped. It's small, unstable, it can only be stuck at an angle, and the frightening thing is that it breaks quite easily (although it's easy to wear). This means that the stand works best on a flat and stationary surface with only one angle-for many situations where we actually want to stand the Switch (such as on an airplane or in the back seat of a car), the stand is not that good .
One thing many of us really want is for Nintendo to use bigger,
. This not only makes the console stand up more stably, but it can also be adjusted to many different perspectives, which is really convenient for things like back seats.
The current Switch has a plastic screen that is easily scratched-many
The employee immediately took a cheap tempered glass screen protector on the console to avoid permanent wear. Many of us hope that Nintendo will add a glass screen to this new model to make it more scratch-resistant, so we don't need to add our own glass screen.
Hope that a larger screen means that we will also see smaller bezels, which will give the console a higher quality. The current Switch has a huge black border, how much space can be displayed
Still filled by the screen. Moreover, if you are using a smaller Nintendo Switch Lite screen, the frame will not stand out, which makes the smaller size of the Lite screen less obvious.
The Switch’s current docking station works well enough-it provides a place to charge the Switch and can help the console connect to the TV-but we want it to be smaller (if it is smaller) and have magnets to make the Switch even more It is safe and has a built-in Ethernet port, because plugging a USB-A into an Ethernet adapter for wired Internet connection is a clumsy solution.
Nintendo is not known for its easy-to-remember hardware names. This is the company that marks the new console generation
, Released a section called
, And released a smaller version of Switch that actually cannot be completely "switched".
Although it seems that Nintendo may just call it "Switch Pro" or "Switch Plus", or maybe "Super Nintendo Switch", we think we also came up with some names that Nintendo can now throw into the trash can. :
Nintendo Switch is four years old this week, and there is no Netflix application yet. 4K-enabled switches may add potential features, which means we will eventually be able to watch

Although the Switch version of Apex Legends has the advantage of portability, its struggling resolution and frame rate put the player at a disadvantage.
The version shows why players should avoid cross-matches. After publishing on PC,
And publicized it with great fanfare on March 9. Fans want to play the game on a new, more portable platform, and many people hope that the Battle Royale game can attract new audiences on Nintendo’s hybrid console.
the day before
Nintendo Switch is released, the developer is interviewed
. The game runs at 720p in docking mode and 576p in handheld mode. In both modes, the frame rate of the game is locked to 30fps. Although this is consistent with other Nintendo Switch ports of popular third-party games, it is worrying that this number is much lower than the PC version of the game (the latter has a maximum speed of 144fps) and possible 4K resolution.
A new video compares the two versions, showing how obvious the difference is between the PC version and the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
A complete record of a game map was recorded in dock mode on PC and Nintendo Switch. Both versions show the maximum possible settings for their respective platforms. The PC version’s visual settings are fully open, and the docking mode version of the Switch game promises a higher resolution than the handheld mode. In this comparison, the Switch version performed very poorly. The texture is muddy, there is no grass, and the distance is fuzzy.
The last point is that Switch players in particular advise others to avoid the cross-play feature of the game. By default, the cross-play feature is turned on, allowing the Switch player to compete with players on other platforms (such as PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One). Reddit users
Shared comparison screenshots of Switch and Xbox One, highlighting the difficulty of watching other players from a distance. In the Xbox One version, at least the remote player can be identified as a character model. In the Switch version, it is impossible to determine whether an enemy player is present. This puts Nintendo Switch players at a distinct disadvantage, because players on other platforms will be able to see competitors from farther away. If the player turns off the cross-play feature, they will only be matched with other Switch players, which will provide a more level playing field.
The battle happened soon
, And players need all the advantages they can get. Even if the cross game is advertised as one of the assets of the Nintendo Switch version of the game, the difference in resolution and frame rate makes it impossible for Nintendo fans to remain competitive when competing with players on other platforms. Although it's hard to be surprised by the performance of Nintendo Switch-
Compare it to other platforms-it's also a bit unfair to compare it to the performance of a powerful PC. No one expects the powerful performance of the portable Nintendo system. Even so, the performance of the game should still be enough to give players a chance to compete with each other, especially when cross-matching is a widely promoted aspect in the title. In this regard, the Nintendo Switch version
Available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Regarding the fact that Nintendo Switch is now four years old, it is difficult for me to concentrate. March 3, 2017, to some extent, it felt like last month or ten years ago. Even though I only bought real new PlayStation and Xbox consoles a few months ago, the thing itself still feels "very new" in my mind. But considering the views we want to express in our Switch life, it’s no surprise
The momentum of updated hardware versions is increasing. Frankly speaking, considering the thousands of hours I have happily devoted to the Switch, I all need to update. But for Nintendo, when it decides to release it, it is crucial to release it and choose the games to sell with it. For the so-called Nintendo Switch Pro, timing will be everything.
The latest report comes from
It also provides some detailed information about the upcoming version, the most famous of which includes a 7-inch 720p OLED screen. This size is larger than the 6.2-inch display on the standard Switch and the 5.5-inch display on the Switch Lite. The report also mentioned that the shell of the screen will remain unchanged, which means that the new Switch is likely to have a thinner bezel. It is a wise move for Nintendo to keep the body size unchanged, because all of our Joy-Con, accessories and chassis can be transferred to the new hardware cleanly. Of course, it remains to be seen whether we will get some kind of controller revision to finally solve our Joy-Con drift problem.
As someone who specializes in using Nintendo Switch in handheld mode, the details about the screen sound great to me. The OLED screen is great, definitely bigger than the current LCD screen of the Switch. Just like the OLED display on the original PlayStation Vita, it will provide brighter colors, deeper blacks, and more energy-efficient battery life. However, some people are disappointed by the news of the 720p display, rather than the full 1080p display.
I really don't think this is a problem. Considering the distance most people keep the device from their face in handheld mode, 720p is enough to provide excellent images. 1080p is very suitable for situations like Nintendo Labo. In this case, you can fold some cardboard together and tie the entire product to your face, but I would rather extend battery life with better artificial VR features.
When docked, the hardware revision should also have 4K capabilities, although the details are vague in the report.
Some solutions for how to work are listed, but it seems that the increased processing power will remain inside the dock itself, rather than the handheld device. This will undoubtedly narrow the gap between the current position of Nintendo Switch and the leaps that Microsoft and Sony made last fall, although in terms of functionality, it is undoubtedly still far below PlayStation 5 and Xbox SeriesX. However, if this narrowing of the gap means that Switch will also launch a series of third-party games, then Nintendo is a victory.
The Bloomberg report pointed out that Samsung will start producing new screens in June and plans to produce nearly one million screens per month for the rest of this year. But this is the tricky part. Does Nintendo plan to prepare the Switch Pro in time for launch during the holidays, or will we see it early next year, which coincides with the 5th anniversary of the Switch itself?
On the one hand, it makes sense to prepare new hardware for the public during the peak holiday season. Especially considering the fact that by then the manufacturing problems of Sony and Microsoft should be mostly resolved, which means that anyone who wants to buy a new game console should be able to worry-free. Ready to use the shiny new Switch with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|Intel® Developer Zone S will be extremely beneficial for Nintendo.
However, given that this epidemic has clearly affected the development of the entire video game industry, including
, I wouldn’t be surprised if the plan changes. We are considering launching new Nintendo hardware in early 2022, which will be launched within about five years after the Switch is launched. However, if this is the case, then if Nintendo launches a new game console in 2021 that will not be available until early 2022, will it hurt its holiday sales? If people know that an update is about to be released, will people postpone buying the original Switch?
In terms of Western distribution, five years seems to be Nintendo’s best choice for consoles. We got SNES in 1991, Nintendo 64 in 1996 five years later, GameCube in 2001 five years later, and Wii in 2006 five years later. With the advent of Wii U, the great success of Wii makes it an outlier. 2012, six years later. But Wii U’s mistakes made the Switch back to the plan in March 2017, less than five years later. However, it is worth reiterating that this hardware update does not sound like a leap from generation to generation. Instead, it feels more similar to PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, or more appropriately the New Nintendo 3DS that is often forgotten by people.
The new Nintendo 3DS has a more powerful processor, better battery, larger screen and other buttons to help make the entire 3DS experience smoother. It also has a small but weird list of exclusive games. The big one is
. But the handheld version of the SNES virtual console is also its proprietary version, which includes things like
, This is a currently unavailable game in the SNES Online library of Switch.
I can't imagine that Nintendo will eventually announce Nintendo 64 Online just to provide support after the new hardware version. Frankly speaking, given that the Switch has surpassed
I can’t imagine Nintendo’s desire to allow a game that won’t be playable on all these consoles.
For now, the current development momentum of Switch is eye-catching. Although the focus in 2020 is mainly on the release of Sony and Micrsosoft consoles, Nintendo’s sales volume is
, And there is no sign of slowing down.
, And only move up in the list. The remaining product lineup for 2020 is solid, if not spectacular.
Surprisingly, the Switch is still the home of incredible indie games on the first day as praised.
Having said that, Nintendo is certainly not without current problems.
Participated in three incredible games and turned it into a bland collection, leaving other celebrations of the same type behind in the league, not to mention
It is currently expected to stop shipping to retailers within a few weeks and remove it from the eShop. Nintendo also fumbled
Announced its 35th anniversary
Will switch to Switch this summer. Of course, there seems to be more classics
News later this year, but with
In just a few days after that, including an opening montage, it made us understand the legendary history of the legend, which makes it hard not to feel that Nintendo has messed up Link.
Speaking of Link, the last big question mark of Nintendo Switch Pro is what games will be released with it as a demonstration of its upgrade. The two that have been announced and immediately come to mind are
And newly discovered
, While the former has no release date, while the latter is scheduled to be released in early 2022. It seems like a mistake to release a new console without a marquee game, and any kind of game feels like that kind of large, important open-world experience that Nintendo is happy to put on a hat when promoting new hardware.
But, like many exciting video game rumors and reports, all we can do now is wait. Whether this year or next year, Nintendo seems to be preparing to upgrade its popular hybrid console. Although it seems that this is not a real generational leap, judging from the continued success of the Switch, Nintendo does not need to reinvent the wheel now.
