Ultra Encode series expands universal appeal
Magewell is designed for various applications ranging from real-time streaming and remote contribution to IP-based production and IP-based AV. It has launched the Ultra Encode series of universal live media encoders. Flexible encoding hardware solutions support multiple encoding formats, including H.264, H.265 and NDI HX, as well as various delivery protocols. To strike a balance between wider viewing device compatibility and higher quality/bit rate efficiency, Ultra Encode has H.264 and H.265 (HEVC) video compression capabilities for real-time streaming. The new encoder also supports multiple streaming protocols, including RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP, RTP, HLS and SRT (safe and reliable transmission). Configurable presets allow streaming to YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Twitch or custom destinations by selecting the protocol, allowing simultaneous streaming to multiple destinations using independent encoding parameters for each stream. Such as the combination of H.265 compression and SRT protocol provides high-quality, high-bandwidth-efficient real-time stream secure delivery.
For IP production workflow and AV signal distribution architecture over IP, Ultra Encode supports the second generation of NDI | HX, which is the low bit rate mode in NewTek NDI IP media transmission technology. The bandwidth-friendliness of NDI | HX enables wireless transmission through Ultra Encode's integrated Wi-Fi support, thereby maximizing the flexibility of on-site production and monitoring workflows. The Ultra Encode unit can be used in conjunction with Magewell’s multi-format Pro Convert decoder for end-to-end real-time media transmission in NDI | HX or streaming format. Ultra Encode HDMI and Ultra Encode SDI models provide HDMI 1.4a or 3G-SDI input and loop-through interface options. Both models can encode and stream content up to 1080p60 at bit rates up to 16Mbps, although Ultra Encode HDMI also accepts 4K HDMI input and automatically downconverts it to HD. Embedded audio is supplemented by analog, line-level audio input and output connections. In addition to Wi-Fi, the encoder also provides RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired networks. The encoder can be configured and controlled programmatically through a browser-based web interface or through an HTTP-based API.
